Most nodes (including the mobile "node-in-the-phone" providers like Phoenix and Zeus) allow the user to configure a maximum routing budget. When sending larger payments, the option to increase the maximum budget makes it easier to find a route. In Alby Hub, payments over 500K sats fail rather frequently (even with plenty of outbound liquidity to multiple channel partners/LSPs). With the freedom to control routing fees, this would hopefully be less of an issue.
