Let users isolate their main connection

Since the getalby.com domain and accounts are exposed to the internet, it would be nice to let users isolate their main AlbyHUB connection.

This would be a good security measure for users who simply want to be their own LSP but don't to expose their whole balance to the broader internet in case of a breach.

Hi,

This is possible already by setting a budget on your Alby Account connection. You can open the connections page, hover over the connection and you'll see a pen icon on the top right to edit your monthly budget.

Any feedback on this would be great so we can make it more understandable - is it unclear that your connection has a budget for example?

Hi roland, what I meant it to literally have an isolated connection as their default.

I for example want to have my LN Address have access to only the funds that have been sent to it, not the full node's amount or a budget from that amount (which isn't clear when using it since all wallets show the whole amount).

Lets say, I want pakovm@getalby.com be a wallet I use only for tips done to me over Nostr, Stacker News or any other way, I don't want to define a budget for it, I want it to show exactly the amount that's been sent to that address and to only be able to spend what's been sent there.

It's doable by making an isolated connection, but then AlbyHub doesn't show the node as linked to the address but it says that there's some other connection.

IMO is a lot better way to have my budget administrated without having to actually go an d set it and actually checking hoe much is left in the panel when I can see it directly from the wallet itself, also makes budgets flexible. I want 100K sats? I send 100K sats to the address, I want more? I send more, I have received money and want to spend it without having to touch something else? I can spend from that directly, and that way I can see exactly how much I have for spending without a 3rd eye seeing my whole funds because I wasn't careful enough at that exact moment.

I hope this explains it better.

pakovm hi,

To fix your issue you will need to do these things:

  1. Unlink your node at https://getalby.com/node
  2. Delete your existing Alby Account connection in the hub (the top one on the connections page)
  3. Create an isolated app connection and call it exactly "getalby.com"
  4. Copy the connection secret
  5. at https://getalby.com/node use this connection secret to connect to your Alby account.

You do have a point, but with monthly budgeting you do not need to manually send more each month.

A few people have asked for this feature though, so it would be good to add this to our UI - but we need to find a way to add it in a way that is not confusing (because I don't think every user wants this feature).
