Fedimint back end would be great.

I don't linke self custodial Lightning because the cost and risk to have a 1m sat channel for a bunch of little transactions is way too high. Cashu fixes this which is great that you implemented it.

Fedimint back end would be great. No struggle with expensive channels. I had 3 large >1m sat channels but still failed to send larger payments to my receiver, I want to outsource all of this annoyance to some custodian which should be a federation.

Cashu is integrated? How does that work? I didn't see any Cashu wallet apps in the Alby "app store", so do you mean that Alby hub/wallet can now pay a Cashu invoice? Or is there something more going on?

You can select a Cashu mint as funding source for your Alby Hub during the setup. Then your Hub stores Cashu tokens.
How are Cashu invoices different from Lightning invoices?

Moritz super cool, I didn't realize that. The invoices definitely look more-or-less the same (although on a technical level I don't know), but I guess you're right, the lightning wallet just thinks it's paying a LN invoice.

If funding the Hub node from a mint, does Alby recognize that it's holding Cashu tokens rather than sats? Is it "both" in that the tokens are (allegedly) backed by sats?

Guess I have some eCash reading to do this weekend ;)

consciousdruid Yes, if you choose a Cashu mint as a funding source instead of the internal or external lightning node, you are holding ecash tokens in your Alby Hub. Whether these tokens are effectively backed by sats depends on the connected Cashu mint.
